Time flies, and we are just a few weeks away from the 2020 Arizona mountain bike race season opener. For almost 20 years – yep, it has been 20 years – PAPAGO Park in Tempe has kicked off the the race season in the desert. Back when Tim started the event in 2003, next Red Rocks jumped in with the 12 hour format, and since 2016 a 6 hour race – BlueWolf produced.
Packet pick-up/late registration will be hosted again at Blue Wasabi, San Tan Village, 2080 E Williams Field Rd Gilbert.
A couple of reminders/updates:
Unfortunately, multiple early morning food trucks have not been able to complete the needed requirements to be on-site. Bring your own breakfast items – venue opens for set-up at 6:00 a.m. and race starts at 9:00 a.m.
Awesomesauce Bowls will be on-site beginning at 10:00 a.m. Really good food, and a variety of choices, all available for purchase.
Space is tight in the venue – please respect other participants when setting up your support space. NO VEHICLES are allowed in Solo/Team Alley – only tents, chairs, etc.
Massage North Scottsdale will have a couple of therapists on site to take care of those post-race aches and pains. $1/minute.
HAMMER Nutrition returns for support in 2020. Gels, and HEED (electrolyte replacement) will be available near the finish line/exchange area for your in-race needs. There is NO WATER at the venue (except at the aid station and for registered participants only) – bring what you may need to hydrate during the 6 hour sufferfest.
And, Bicycle Ranch will be in the house for those last minute minor repairs. As always, don’t wait until race morning for significant tweaks – head to your local shop and get it done beforehand.
