After a few months of recon, and discussions with SRP and the City of Tempe – here you go…the 2017 race course.
A couple of minor changes from previous years for 2017. The turn-around will be out at McDowell Road – we will have to insure the safety of pedestrians, so that means cones and course marshals.
This looks to be a 35 – 45 minute lap (approximately 7 miles) – depending on your fitness (and desire). Probably will be a 7 -10 lap race for most racers. That means 49 miles to 70 miles in January! The comment from the group that rode on Friday – “this course is no joke!”. Technical, loose rocky climbs, fast flowing single track through the Roller Coaster, and big ring hammer along the canal.
The tunnel is in play – but we will not require a dismount. Stay right and use caution – two way traffic.
The Park remains open to the public, as please keep your head up and watch for hikers, runners, equestrians, and other cyclists. Along the canal – watch for dogs.
As a reminder, each participant will get an event t-shirt, food from AZ Barbecue and a great race in January.
